What is PCOS?
Polycystic ovary syndrome is a female hormonal problem in which most women develop cysts around the ovaries. In turn their hormones are out of balance. If you are suffering from this syndrome, it might cause irregular periods and also make it difficult for you to get pregnant. It can also cause some unwanted changes in your looks. You might lose too much weight, face hair fall problems or gain the tremendous amount of weight even without eating a lot! What are the symptoms of PCOS?

What can cause PCOS?
Mostly the reasons for this syndrome are unknown. However, it has been noticed that if your mother or sister has this similar problem then you are more likely prone to it! Even when there is too much of insulin in your body it can be a cause for this syndrome.
How to treat it?
- Regular exercise- Try to exercise regularly to beat this syndrome. Moderate or vigorous activities can help you keep a check at it! Walking is recommended.
- Diet control- Eating right is the key. You should eat heart-healthy foods like vegetables, fruits, nuts etc. Limit high cholesterol or high saturated fat foods.
- Weight control- If you are on the heavier side, it’s recommended that you lose up to 5 kgs so that your hormones are in a check and irregularity of periods can be avoided.
- No smoking- If you are a smoker, consider quitting! Women who smoke are likely to have higher androgen levels which can contribute to the symptoms of PCOS.
