Should I avoid contact with pets or animals if I am sick with COVID-19?

If you are sick or suspected to be infected with the virus that causes COVID-19, separate yourself from other people and animals in your home. You should stay away from other people and stay in a room as much as possible. Besides, if available, you should use a separate bathroom. While you are sick with COVID-19, you should restrict contact with pets, including other animals, just as you would with other people. If possible, let another member of your family care for your animals while you are sick. If you are infected with COVID-19, avoid contact with your pet, such as snuggling, being kissed/licked, petting and sharing food. If you have to or must be around animals or care for your pet, even if you are sick, wash your hands before and after your contact with pets and wear a facemask.
