Lack of water in the body or dehydration will lead to poor performance of the body. And since most of us are unaware of this fact, here are 10 signs that your body desperately needs water:

1. HEADACHES
Dehydration is a proven trigger of Headache and lightheadedness and is a sign that your body needs water. Moreover, oxygen flow to the head is reduced in case your body is dehydrated. So next time you get a headache, drink some water instead of taking a pill.

2. LOW CONCENTRATION
90% of our head comprises of water, and lack of hydration can negatively affect the performance of our minds. Lack of focus, poor memory, fatigue, and anxiety are signs that you need more water.

3. BAD BREATH
Going to the dentist isn’t always the solution when it comes to having a bad breath. Water is essential in creating spit, which contains antibacterial properties. When your body is poorly hydrated, bacteria growth is more, resulting in bad breath.

4. CONSTIPATION
Water keeps the stomach tract clean and helps in preventing constipation. In the case of vomiting or diarrhea, constipation chances are high if your body is not properly hydrated. Acid reflux and heartburn are also results of dehydration.

5. FOOD CRAVING
The sudden craving to eat something savory or sweet is often a sign that your body needs water. Dehydration can send these false hunger flags, when actually what you need is water. Next time you get a sudden craving, have some water first and see if that stops.

6. LESS URINATION AND CHANGE IN COLOR
Visiting the restroom at regular intervals are a sign that you are properly hydrated. Not urinating at normal interims are a sure sign that you should consume more liquid. Additionally, the color of your urine is a good indicator of your body’s need for water. A golden or orange color urine is a sign that you are not consuming enough water.

7. LETHARGY AND FATIGUE
The feeling of lethargy and exhaustion are often a result of dehydration. When there is less water in the body, circulation of both oxygen and blood to the brain is reduced, which causes both lethargy and fatigue.

8. MUSCLE AND JOINT PAIN
Being an imperative segment of body joints, the lack of water results in joints pounding and rubbing against each other, leading to joint pain. In case of muscles, dehydration can cause contraction of muscles which causes pain.

9. DRY SKIN AND LIPS
Skin is the largest organ of the body performing the vital function of sweating, and since one of the primary functions of water in the body is to flush out toxins and poisons, dehydration can lead to skin breakouts, psoriasis, and dermatitis. Dry lips are also a result of dehydration.

10. FAST HEARTBEAT
Reduced plasma volume is a result of dehydration, and this leads to an accelerated heartbeat. Drinking water regularly will help you avoid this and maintain a healthy heart.

PREVENTING DEHYDRATION:
1. Drink water and other liquids regularly.
2. Drink a glass of water before and after your meal.
3. Consume liquid-rich foods.
4. Always carry water with you
5. Avoid alcohol and beverages that contain caffeine
6. When unwell, consume more water.
